Design Story
The uninterrupted glass walls of this Brooklyn penthouse called for furniture that would frame the skyline rather than compete with it. TIOR STUDIO used a low modular sofa and dark sculptural pieces to establish a grounded interior silhouette.
Black leather, charcoal textiles, and warm metallic lighting create a measured contrast with the bright view. Each piece remains visually distinct while contributing to one disciplined modern composition.
Low Seating, Open Horizon
The modular sofa stays below the window line, preserving long skyline views while creating a generous place to gather.
A Defined Reading Corner
A black leather lounge chair anchors the window corner and introduces a sharper tailored note to the soft sectional. Slender floor speakers and a low media console add structure along the glass without creating a heavy wall of furniture.
A Sculptural Center
The broad black coffee table gives the seating area a clear center and supports a restrained collection of decorative objects. Warm metallic speaker details add a quiet layer of luxury to the otherwise black media zone.
Technology as Architecture
The media pieces are treated as vertical architectural elements, aligning with the window mullions and city towers beyond. Dark accessories stand out against the daylight, giving the table a curated presence without visual clutter. The angled view shows how every seat maintains a connection to both the skyline and the conversation area.
Tactile Neutrality
The sofa's mottled upholstery adds depth to the neutral palette and softens the harder black elements around it. An articulated floor lamp brings focused light to the lounge chair while its long arm echoes the linear window grid. A monochrome artwork creates an interior focal point so the room remains composed even when attention shifts from the skyline.
